This scholarship is for anyone with strong ties to the Kawartha Lakes region who is going to postsecondary education in the next 12 months.
Ron Kennedy spent a lifetime dedicated to working with disadvantaged and disabled youth. His contributions to our community include the formation of Kawartha Youth Incorporated in 1970, which later became BGC Kawarthas, but go well beyond the creation of this Club. Ron was a natural leader, humanitarian, entrepreneur, environmentalist, coach, mentor and artist. Every one of the Kawartha Lakes Youth Awards embodies qualities displayed by Ron Kennedy. The successful recipient of the Ron Kennedy Scholarship will be one nominee who best exemplifies Ron's natural gifts.
The Ron Kennedy Scholarship will be awarded to the candidate who can demonstrate strong community involvement and volunteerism and who exemplifies qualities that Ron embodied.
Please answer the following questions together in an essay in your own words. (500-1,000 words) You can either write and submit the essay here or submit it to nominations@bgckawarthas.com. The deadline is Monday, March 23rd, 2026.
