Eligibility Criteria for the Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Black Rose Scholarship:
The applicant must be a current graduating high school senior:
v Minimum GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.
v Submission of an essay (250-350 words) on the importance of continuing education today and the applicant’s connection to the chosen institution.
v Demonstrated financial need (verified through FAFSA or similar documentation).
v Copy of academic transcript (official or unofficial)
v Two letters of recommendation from teachers, mentors, or community leaders.
v Active involvement in extracurricular activities or community service.
v Acceptance letter from the college or trade school/career path school the student will be attending
v Deadline for application submission: March 31, 2026
The scholarship award amount is $500.The scholarship recipient will be selected based on academic achievement, essay content, financial need, and extracurricular involvement.
The scholarship will be disbursed directly to the chosen recipient to be used towards tuition, fees, books, or other educational expenses.
* The recipient must be able to attend the Central Florida Section of NCNW Dr. Mary McLeod Luncheon on May 2, 2026, from 11 am to 2 pm.
