  •      🥘Let's stir the pot, y'all! The Let's GEAUX Gumbo cook-off is coming and it's about to bring BIG flavor to the bayou! We invite you to join us for our 1st annual Gumbo cook-off on
    Saturday March 14th 2026, at the West Cal Event Center in Sulphur, LA.

        🦞 We're calling all gumbo masters, roux legends and back yard cooks to throw down for trophies, charity and ULTIMATE BRAGGING RIGHTS!!!!! Chicken/Sausage and seafood
    varieties. Bring it!!🐓

        ✔️ The cook-off set up will begin at 7am, cooking will begin at 8:30am SHARP. Judging will begin at noon.

         ✔️The entry fee is $100 per team per category. Maximum 4 people per team. Bring your own tables and 10x10 size or smaller tent per cook-off category.

    🏆Prizes:

    There will be a 1st place winner in each of the two categories. They will receive $100 and a trophy.
    One winner of peoples choice will receive $100 and a trophy.

  • This event will be going on outside while our Bon Bagay SpringMarket will be inside of the event center from 10am-4pm. We have over 60 local vendors to support, door prizes, 6 golden
    eggs will be handed out (to be exchanged for cash or prizes)

    Swag bags to the first 50 paid entry shoppers. $5 admission at the door for the market or $10 admission for market and gumbo cook-off.

  • Information and Rules

  • 1. Teams are to be made up of 2-4 members in your area. No more than 4 people in your cooking area.
  • 2. There are 2 categories: chicken and sausage and seafood. One winner for each category and one peoples choicewinner.
  • 3. Entry fee: $100 per team, per category. Teams may enter both categories, but must pay the entry fee for each category.
  • 4. All entries must be paid by: Saturday March 7th 2026. Each paid entry will receive a 10x10 space to set up your tent, table and supplies.
  • 5. All teams will keep their areas clean and sanitary. Bring your own garbage bags and clean up supplies (soap/water) to keep areas clean as possible.
  • 6. All teams can report to West Cal Event Center at 7am to set up. Cooking begins at 8:30am. General admission begins at 10am.
  • 7. Once you are checked in and set up, you may start your preparation for cooking. All cooking must be done in full view of the public. NO LIGHTING BURNERS UNTIL 8:30am
  • 8. There will be no electricity available, so all the rice must be cooked in advance. You are not judged on your rice.
  • 9. Clean up will begin promptly at 3:30pm after the award ceremony. Your area must be clean and empty by 5pm.

  • All teams report to West Cal Event Center in Sulphur, LA at 7am. Cooking will begin at 8:30am

  • 1. What to bring: Burners and tanks (only 20lb standard tank will be allowed) 40 qt. Pot (10 gallons), five pounds ofrice, cutting board, knives and cooking utensils. Water,
    coolers for soft drinks and meat. Paper towels, soap,matches and whatever else you might need to prepare yourgumbo with. Meat- already cut, roux, spices and any other
    ingredients needed. You must bring bowls and utensils for the gumbo to be served to the public after thejudging is complete. Sample bowls will be provided for judging purposes ONLY.

  • 2. Gumbo must be prepared from scratch, in a sanitary manner and in full view of the public. No pre-cooked gumbo is allowed. Roux may be pre-cooked.

  • 3. Teams must bring pre-cooked rice since there will be no access to electricity in your cooking area. Teams are not being judged on rice, but should have for serving the public.

  • 4. All cooks MUST WEAR HAIR RESTRAINT (hats,
    bandanas, hair nets, etc.)
  • 5. All pots must be kept covered except for stirring or serving to minimize contamination. All teams are to keep their areas clean. Only the 4 member team is allowed in the cooking area during the cooking process.

  • 6. Pets are not allowed.
  • 7. No smoking or vaping allowed, except in designated areas.

  • 8. We will provide music. No other music is allowed during event.

  • 9. All gumbo must be ready for judging at noon. You will be informed of the judging process the morning of the event.
    Gumbo will be judged on: Aroma, Consistency, Color,Taste, After taste and Presentation. You will be provided with a tray and bowls to use for judging. It is up to you to plate your samples.

  • 10. Gumbo will be given away to the public in attendance after your gumbo has been taken back for judging, not before.

  • 11. Teams may bring a banner or sign. Keep all decorations away from burners.
