    Sport & Recreation - Rangatahi
  • The Hauraki Māori Trust Board is seeking expressions of interest from Hauraki iwi /
marae to fund events / activities that will increase participation and leadership
opportunities for tamariki, rangatahi, and hāpori, as Māori, through play, active
recreation, and sport. This initiative aligns with the He Oranga Poutama Outcomes
Framework and Te Pākē o Ihi Aotearoa (Sport NZ Ihi Aotearoa Māori Outcomes
Framework), ensuring the integration of Māori ways of being and knowing in achieving success as Māori.

Through this investment, we aim to contribute to Sport NZ’s strategic priorities for 2024-2028 by:

    1. Maintaining physical activity levels of tamariki (children aged 5-11).
    2. Reducing the decline in physical activity levels for rangatahi (young people aged 12-18).
    3. Improving equity for tamariki and rangatahi who are less active.

This funding will enable the Hauraki Māori Trust Board to support Mauri Ora outcomes, with a particular focus on fostering Māori identity, strengthening community connections, and enabling Māori to thrive in active recreation and sport pathways.
