The murmur of a large crowd carrying endless conversation fills the room alongside a band of bards that play a slow dance for the room. Large chandeliers hang from the ceiling, all lit up as the light reflects off the crystals that hang from these fixtures, decorating the room in shifting fragments of light.
The room is grand with every little piece having detail unlike those visiting have ever seen. Even the ceiling is embellished with intricate designs that help it stand out alongside the dancing light. On one end of the room sits a grand stage with large red and gold curtains pulled back so that the band may play. Around the edges of the room are tall archways that lead to various parts of the castle, a resting spot, the restrooms, a balcony or two, and more. In between some of these archways are staff of the estate holding trays of drink and snacks for the guests.
Through one of these archways is what is known as the Grand Walk, a gorgeous part of the estate that is lined with huge chandeliers, embellished pillars and arches, decorated ceilings, polished floors, and small fenced windows that lets in the evening light.
It's a time for celebration and merriment for the kingdom, celebrating the coming of a new year just hours away from now. Every year this castle held many grand parties for various reasons, yet this one is special. The year of the Serpent is said to partially mark the time for transformation, intuition, and more. Every year the people of Jekyl (Yeh-kl) celebrate each new year differently according to the animal the coming year is.
Long ago, the serpent was said to protect this realm against those that wished it harm. For it was foretold that one day, a shift of power will happen if the serpent gave in to it's desires that Jekyl would fall into darkness, hate, and more..
All of that was far from the minds of those attending this party, good merriment, good company, and a warm place to be on a cold night was just what anyone would want.
