The key eligibility criteria for the award are:
1. Individual(s) studying at postgraduate level or no more than 12 months after graduation in the area of food science and technology or related discipline.
2. The Primary author must be a financial member of the AIFST or a related professional body (such as IAFP, or ASM).
3. Students must provide evidence of approval/authorisation of submission from their supervisor or other senior person, who should also attest to the student's role in the work.
