Nature Camp Community Bursary Application
Thank you for your interest in the FAB Nature Camp! Ensuring our camp is accessible to more families in the community is important to us.

The Nature Camp Community Bursary Fund is designed to enable families who would otherwise not be able to afford the full cost of our camp to send their child with financial support.

The fund is made possible by FABN’s fundraising efforts and individual donors. Our bursary fund is limited. Please keep in mind when considering applying that there are many in the community in need of financial assistance and we want each bursary awarded to a camper who wouldn’t otherwise be able to attend camp, or whose registration at camp places financial hardship or stress on their family.

Applications are considered on a first come first served basis and decisions are based on a combination of factors such as information in the application, funds available, etc. In certain circumstances, you may be invited to meet and discuss your application with our camp team. In any given year, bursaries will not be available once the fund is exhausted.

Our bursary is only able to cover 1 week of camp and 1 camp t-shirt per camper and is not available for travel or other costs associated with a camper’s participation at camp. Families are welcome to apply for 1 bursary per camper (i.e. it is ok to apply for multiple children). Bursary options include partial (50%) or full (100%) coverage.

Confidentiality: All information collected within this application is held in confidence and only used for the purposes of determining eligibility for financial assistance. If you are approved for a bursary, that information will not be shared with other campers, camp families or camp staff beyond our management team. Important: The below examples are only meant to support self reflection and have been provided to help you assess your level of need and determine which bursary option best suits your situation. Each family or bursary applicant will have unique needs and circumstances and this tool is only intended to provide some broad guidance to applicants.

- Example decision making criteria for this fee option: We have secure housing, a personal vehicle and our basic needs are covered without undue stress. Things like travel, vacation and/or participation in extracurriculars may not necessarily be something we can always afford on a yearly basis but we are able to pay the cost of our camper’s participation at camp without risking financial hardship.

- This bursary option covers 50% of 1 week’s camp fee, plus the full price of a camp t-shirt.
  
  Example decision making criteria for this bursary option: Most of our household income goes towards covering basic needs. We often struggle to afford “extras” and when we do, they make it difficult to cover our basic expenses.
- This bursary option covers 100% of 1 week’s camp fee and a camp t-shirt and is intended for families who would not otherwise be able to access our programming.
  
  Example decision making criteria for this bursary option: Our family experiences insecure employment and/or housing. Almost all of our income goes toward meeting basic needs and we can’t afford additional expenses like extracurricular activities without assistance.
