  • AICP Certification Scholarship - 2026

    AICP Certification Scholarships help make the planning profession more diverse and accessible. Diversity is an inclusive concept which encompasses, but not limited to, race, ethnicity, class, gender, age, sexuality, ability, educational attainment, spiritual beliefs, creed, culture, tribal affiliation, nationality, financial status, immigration status, political beliefs, veteran status, etc.

    ***PLEASE NOTE: Do not apply for the scholarship if you already registered for the AICP Exam or submitted your Experience Assessment. Refunds are not given and scholarships cannot be transferred.

    Important dates

    • AICP Certification Scholarship recipients must use the scholarship for the upcoming certification window (anytime in 2026).
    • The first window to submit applications in 2026 will be February 2-27. The second window to submit applications will be May 1-31.
    • In early March and early June, applicants will receive an email from APA (with the email address of AICP@planning.org) regarding the status of their application. Please add this email address to your contact list to avoid the email getting sent to spam or junk folders.

    Additional details

    • Scholarships cannot be transferred to future windows. NOTE: Members who are unable to take the exam after being awarded the scholarship cannot transfer to another exam window.
    • All APA members (both domestic and international) can apply for the scholarship.
    • Applicants have two scholarship options: exam only or assessment only.
    • Fifty scholarships will be awarded through a lottery system to applicants who have a financial need.
    • Applicants can re-apply for the scholarship in future cycles if they are not awarded the scholarship for the current cycle.
    • Contact information and test results for those awarded a scholarship will be shared with APA Chapter Professional Development Officers.
