I understand that participation in Highlands Nature Camp involves outdoor, nature based activities that may include hiking on uneven terrain, exploring trails, creek or water play, nature observation, bug catching, using simple tools with supervision, team games, hands on science activities, and other age appropriate outdoor learning experiences. I give permission for my child to participate in these activities and understand that the specific schedule may vary based on weather, safety considerations, and the judgment of camp staff.
I acknowledge that these activities carry inherent risks which may include slips, falls, stings or bites from insects, exposure to plants, minor scrapes, sudden changes in weather, encounters with wildlife, and other risks typical of outdoor environments. I understand that while camp staff take precautions and follow safety procedures, it is not possible to remove all risks.
In consideration of my child’s (or my) participation in the Highlands Center Nature Camp/Youth Programs, I voluntarily assume all risks associated with the activities. I release and hold harmless the Highlands Center for Natural History, its staff, volunteers and affiliates from any claims, liabilities, injuries, or damages that may arise from participation. I agree to support and reinforce all safety rules and instructions provided by staff.
I certify that my child is physically able to participate in camp/youth program activities and does not have any condition that would prevent safe involvement. In the event of an emergency, I authorize camp staff to secure medical care if necessary and accept responsibility for any related costs.
