    Join Bishop Megan and key members of the Office of the Bishop staff for this FREE conference to network with vestry/mission committee members and leaders from around the diocese. Participants will learn crucial information about the basics and nuances of vestry service, including rules and responsibilities that apply to all vestry/mission committee leaders, canonical and fiduciary responsibilities of serving on the vestry/mission committee, pastoral and spiritual leadership, HR basics, property, and financial matters, and more.   • Workshops

    Workshops will be running in pairs simultaneously. You may choose one from each breakout session. For this reason, we encourage every church to send at least three vestry/mission committe leaders.

    Workshop 1: What Every Vestry/Mission Committee Leader Should Know

    Covers: Rules and responsibilities that apply to all vestry/mission committee members. What are the canonical and fiduciary responsibilities of serving on the vestry/mission committee? Best practices for running effective meetings; recording and reporting communicating your work to the congregation.

    Workshop 2: Pastoral and Spiritual Leadership

    Covers: The care and keeping of church volunteers, lay staff, and clergy Spiritual Growth for leaders.

    Workshop 3: HR basics, Property, and Financial Matters

    Covers: What you should know about hiring, terminating, policies, facility use, property taxes, insurance requirements, and timesheets/recording vacations, and essential updates in employment law. Annual forms including housing resolutions, changes to staff income, congregation information forms and parochial reporting.

    Workshop 4: Effective meetings and Communications

    Covers: Best practices for running effective meetings; recording and reporting
    Communicating your work to the congregation.
