ABOUT THE AWARD:
Senior Citizens Home Assistance Service, Inc. (SCHAS) of Cocke County provides in-home caregiving services to older adults, Veterans, and adults with disabilities. SCHAS is the only caregiving agency in Tennessee to offer an Equitable Access Care Program, with hourly rates based on a client’s net income. Proceeds from the Cocke County Citizenship Award fundraiser directly support local clients who rely on this program.
This year, SCHAS is proud to honor Mr. Rahajara, owner of Milano’s Pizzeria, for his outstanding service to the Cocke County community. Through generous meal donations, hosting fundraisers, and quietly stepping in wherever help is needed, Mr. Rahajara exemplifies the spirit of community service. We are honored to recognize him as this year’s Citizenship Award recipient.
ABOUT THE HONOREE:
Budi Raharja was born and raised in Bali, Indonesia, a place known for its rich culture, strong family values, and vibrant hospitality industry. Growing up in such an environment helped shape Budi’s appreciation for community, hard work, and the importance of treating people with kindness and respect—values that would later influence his career and personal life.
With a strong desire to build opportunities for himself and his family, Budi eventually moved to the United States and settled in Newport, Tennessee. Embracing a new culture and environment, he worked hard to establish himself while holding onto the values he learned growing up in Bali. His determination and dedication led him into the restaurant industry, where he discovered a passion for serving others and creating welcoming experiences for customers.
In 2008, Budi became a restaurant owner, beginning a journey that required perseverance, long hours, and a commitment to excellence. Through the years, he has continued to grow in the industry, focusing on providing quality food, strong customer service, and a warm atmosphere that makes guests feel at home. His work reflects not only his entrepreneurial spirit but also his belief in building relationships within the community.
Outside of his professional life, Budi values his role as a family man above all else. He enjoys spending meaningful time with his family and children, creating memories, and sharing the simple joys of life together. When he has time to relax, Budi enjoys golfing and fishing—activities that allow him to unwind and appreciate the outdoors.
At the heart of Budi Raharja’s life is a simple but powerful goal: to become a better person each day. Whether through his work, his family life, or his personal growth, he strives to live with integrity, gratitude, and continuous self-improvement. His journey from Bali to Tennessee reflects resilience, dedication, and the pursuit of a meaningful life built on hard work and strong values
