  • ART SUBMISSION FORM

    DUE MARCH 12 BY 11:59PM
  • 52nd Annual Hillsborough College Student Juried Art Exhibition

     April 9 - May 5, 2026

    Reception & Awards Ceremony Thursday, April 9, 6 - 8 p.m.
Awards to begin at 7 p.m.

Every year, Gallery114@HC Ybor City Campus presents an exhibition celebrating works of art created by HC's students. The diversity of media entered by HC’s students and the instruction of HC’s full-time and adjunct art faculty combine to make this a challenging, exciting exhibition.

    Instructions:

The Annual HC Student Juried Art Exhibition is available to all current HC students (i.e., students who have taken classes at HC during the fall and/or spring semesters for the current academic year).

Interested artists are invited to submit up to three artworks completed anytime during the current academic year for consideration through this online application, which will be used for the online jurying process.

Students should have a high-quality digital photograph or file to represent their artwork for the submission. For 3D work, we recommend taking photographs of two dominant views and combining these for a single, side-by-side image.

    • Image must be saved as JPEG file type
    • Image size no larger than 2048 pixels (height or width); recommended 300 dpi if feasible
    • 200 MB max file size
    • Artists should label image files with their name and title of the artwork in the following format: FirstnameLastname_TitleOfArtwork
      • e.g., JaneDoe_Untitled

    Other items of note:

    • The maximum dimensions for any submitted artwork is 36 x 36 x 36 inches. Anything larger will not be considered for the exhibition.
    • If accepted, you will need to provide a physical version of the artwork and must be "exhibition ready" (see below under heading "Delivery of Accepted Artworks" for more details).
      • If you submitted a video/film that was accepted into the show, the gallery will coordinate with you for the appropriate display by providing a TV and/or projector.

    Juror and Prizes:

This year’s juror is Ketsy Ruiz, a Puerto Rican artist based in St. Petersburg, Florida, who paints under the name “Sketzii.” She has exhibited in group shows throughout West Central Florida and beyond, and serves as Artist-in-Residence Director and Curator at the Tampa Bay nonprofit Mi Gente Mi Pueblo. Her work is held in private collections across the U.S., and she has completed commissioned murals in Florida and Puerto Rico.

Awards: Best in Show $500; 2nd place $400; 3rd place $300; Honorable Mentions $100 each.
There will also be a Purchase award (artwork to be purchased and added to the college's Permanent Art Collection).

Additional Display Opportunity: A number or artworks from the exhibition may also be selected for a special display opportunity with our award sponsor, Hotel Haya, over the summer / early fall. More details will be provided as the exhibition date approaches.

  • Deadline for online submission:

    March 12 by 11:59PM

    Artist notification:

All artists who submit their work for consideration will be notified by March 24 regarding whether or not their work was accepted by the juror for the exhibition. If your work was selected, it must be "ready to hang" / "exhibition ready" (see below) by the delivery date.

Even if your submission(s) are not selected as part of the Juried Show inside the gallery, your work may be included in the "Salon des Refuses." The Salon des Refuses will be displayed in the Performing Arts building, 2nd floor lobby. A select number will be chosen by the gallery's professional staff for physical display, with the remainder to be shown digitally as part of a slideshow on a TV/projector.

Whether selected for the Juried Show or the Salon des Refuses, all artists are encouraged to carefully read the information in your notification email to see how/where your work may be displayed.

    Delivery of accepted artworks:

If your work is selected for exhibition (either for the juried show or the Salon), any/all artwork(s) must be delivered to Gallery114@HC on:

    Friday, Mar. 27 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

*Note: early drop-off is available by appointment.

The gallery is located on the first floor of the Performing Arts building at the HC Ybor City Campus (Campus Map).

Any artwork(s) delivered to the gallery must be "ready to hang" or "exhibition ready." In museums and galleries, this refers generally to artwork that simply needs to be placed on the wall or on a pedestal without additional preparation by the installation team (for example, a digital artwork or photograph would need to be printed and framed, preferrably with wire on the back). Check out this guide for detailed information and images!

Students can also attend a special Gallery Learning Lab workshop with HC's Installation Specialist to learn first-hand about preparing your artwork for exhibition and have the opportunity to receive some assistance with their artwork(s). More details will be announced as the dates approach.
