Student Application
Thank you for your interest in the Matthew Covington Legacy Builders Award, administered by The Covington Family Foundation (TCFF). This merit-based award recognizes students who demonstrate initiative, perseverance, and a commitment to building meaningful careers through education and hands-on experience.
Eligibility
The Matthew Covington Legacy Builders Award is open to:
- High school seniors who have been accepted into a trade school or certificate program, or
- Students currently enrolled in a trade school, technical program, or workforce certificate program
- Applicants must demonstrate a clear commitment to skill development, education, and workforce readiness. Entrepreneurial pursuits are welcomed but not required.
- Applicants should also be students with demonstrated financial need, as determined during the post-selection confirmation process.
- Residents in DE, MD, NJ, and PA
Eligible fields may include, but are not limited to:
- Construction trades (e.g., carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC)
- Automotive, diesel, or transportation technology
- Welding and metal fabrication
- Information technology or technical support certifications
- Cosmetology, barbering, or esthetics
- Health-related technical programs (e.g., medical assisting, phlebotomy, EKG)
- Manufacturing, industrial, or maintenance technologies
- Other accredited trade or workforce certificate programs
Selection Process
All applications for the Matthew Covington Legacy Builders Award must be submitted by March 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, with priority given to early submissions. Only completed applications will be reviewed by the Selection Committee. Selected recipients will be notified by mid-April 2026.
The Matthew Covington Legacy Builders Award is a one-time award of $500 recognizing graduating high school seniors who demonstrate leadership, initiative, and a commitment to building legacy through service, academics, entrepreneurship, or community impact. Award funds will be issued directly to the recipient or their educational institution.
