BOLD CITY SHOWDOWN – EVENT WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY IMPORTANT NOTICE
Participation in the Bold City Showdown involves inherent risks. By checking the acknowledgment box and submitting this form, you confirm that you have read, understand, and agree to the terms of this waiver. You understand that you are giving up certain legal rights, including the right to sue, as a condition of participating in this Event.

Host: City of Jacksonville, Florida
Co-Hosts and Sponsors: Various nonprofit organizations, clubs, retailers, agencies, volunteers, and community partners
Definition of Released Parties
For purposes of this agreement, “Released Parties” includes the City of Jacksonville, Florida, and all event co-hosts, sponsors, partners, supporting organizations, nonprofit entities, retailers, vendors, clubs, associations, volunteers, contractors, service providers, property owners, and lessors, together with each of their respective officers, directors, board members, employees, agents, representatives, members, volunteers, insurers, successors, and assigns.
Assumption of Risk
I understand and acknowledge that participation in skateboarding, BMX riding, and other non-motorized activities involves inherent risks that cannot be eliminated. These risks include, but are not limited to:
• Falls or collisions
• Loss of control or balance
• Contact with other participants or spectators
• Contact with park features such as concrete surfaces, rails, ledges, ramps, or other obstacles
• Weather conditions or surface conditions
• Equipment failure
• Negligent or intentional acts of others
I understand that these risks may result in serious injury, permanent disability, emotional trauma, property damage, or death.
I knowingly, voluntarily, and expressly assume all such risks, whether known or unknown, foreseeable or unforeseeable, to the fullest extent permitted by law. I affirm that I am physically and mentally capable of safely participating in this Event.
Mandatory Event Rules
All participants must comply with Event rules at all times. Failure to comply may result in immediate disqualification or removal from the Event.
Helmet Requirement:
All participants, including skateboarders and bicyclists, must wear a properly fitted helmet at all times while riding or competing.
BMX Peg Prohibition:
BMX bicycles may not be equipped with or use pegs. Pegs may damage City-owned skatepark features. Any participant using or equipped with pegs will be disqualified.
Conduct and Safety:
The City reserves the right to restrict, remove, or disqualify any participant whose conduct is unsafe, disruptive, destructive, or in violation of Event rules, City policy, or applicable law.
Release of Liability and Covenant Not to Sue
In consideration of being permitted to participate in the Event, I hereby release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue the City of Jacksonville and all Released Parties from any and all claims, demands, causes of action, losses, damages, or liabilities of any kind arising out of or related to my participation in the Event.
This includes, but is not limited to, claims arising from personal injury, death, property damage, negligence, premises conditions, or any other cause, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
This release is binding upon me and my heirs, assigns, and legal representatives.
Indemnification
To the fullest extent permitted by law, I agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the City of Jacksonville and all Released Parties from and against any claims, actions, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising out of or related to my participation in the Event, my violation of Event rules, injury to myself or others, or damage to property.
Nothing in this agreement shall be interpreted as a waiver of the City of Jacksonville’s sovereign immunity or statutory protections under Florida law.
Medical Authorization
I authorize the City of Jacksonville and its designees to obtain emergency medical treatment on my behalf if deemed necessary. I understand that the City has no obligation to provide medical care and that I am solely responsible for any medical expenses incurred.
Media Release
I grant the City of Jacksonville the irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free right to photograph, film, record, and otherwise capture my name, likeness, image, voice, and participation in the Event.
I understand that such media may be used for lawful purposes including, but not limited to, promotion, education, documentation, and public information, without compensation or further approval.
Governing Law
This agreement shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the State of Florida. Any dispute arising out of or relating to this agreement or the Event shall be resolved through binding arbitration, and I knowingly waive the right to a trial by judge or jury.
