SUBJECT: 2026-2027 - Academic Award
Fort Valley Alumnae Chapter has a history of recognizing academic excellence, offering a one-time academic award to a current student of Fort Valley State University, enrolled for Fall 2026.
Academic awards will be awarded in the Fall Semester to the recipient upon his/her matriculation at Fort Valley State University. The criteria include:
- High School Senior: Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and accepted into FVSU.
- Enrolled/Current FVSU Student: Rising sophomore, junior, or senior with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher; a letter of recommendation from a current FVSU professor; and an essay.
- Enrolled/Current FVSU Student: Graduate student with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher; a letter of recommendation from a current FVSU professor; and an essay.
The applicant must be enrolled with full-time status to receive the award.
As university and high school faculty and staff, you can assist us by identifying and informing eligible students who are most deserving of this academic award. Please distribute this application to the student body.
To be considered, the completed application must be received no later than 11:59 p.m. (EST) March 1, 2026. Qualified applicants will be invited to an interview to complete the application process.
A completed package must include:
- Application
- Unofficial Transcript (Fall 2025, dated after December 31, 2025)
- One Letter of Recommendation from a current professor (FVSU) or current high school teacher
- High School Senior Essay - Explain “How will FVSU help you reach your goals?”; 500 words minimum.
- FVSU Student Essay - "How has attending FVSU helped you reach your goals?" 500 words minimum.
