  • The Teachers’ Academy for Peace 2025–2026 is a multi-stage, intercommunal programme that requires sustained participation over several months. Please review the key dates and commitments below before confirming your availability.

    Academy Details:

    📆 1st Academy meeting: 28 February 2026, 9:30 - 13:00, Home for Cooperation

    📆 Webinar with International Experts: 10 March 2026, 15:30 - 17:30, Online

    📆 Consultation with the AHDR Team: 28 March 2026

    Each team will be allocated a 45-minute slot between 9:00 and 14:00, Home for Cooperation

    📆 Final Academy meeting: 23 May 2026, 9:30 - 13:00, Home for Cooperation

    📆 Mentorship Period: 28 February - 23 May 2026

    Mentor teams will coordinate and hold online meetings at their preferred times

  • Areas of Interest

  • This year, Teachers' Academy for Peace will focus on 5 areas of teaching. Each area is linked to key media literacy and peace education competencies.

    1)Teaching Critical Media Literacy in the Classroom

    Educational focus:
    Supporting students to analyse, question and evaluate information and media content related to current events, social issues and peace.

    Related competencies: Locating and assessing relevant information, Critically evaluating media and digital content, Understanding how media and information systems work

    2) Addressing Hate Speech and Harmful Narratives through Education

    Educational focus:
    Helping students recognise, understand and respond to hate speech, stereotypes and discriminatory narratives in online and offline spaces.

    Related competencies: Recognising and responding to hate speech and extremist content, Ethical and responsible communication, Promoting tolerance, equality and non-discrimination

    3) Facilitating Dialogue and Respectful Discussion in Diverse Classrooms

    Educational focus:
    Creating safe learning environments where students can express different viewpoints, listen respectfully and engage in dialogue across differences.

    Related competencies: Intercultural and interreligious dialogue, Freedom of expression and participation, Self-reflection and challenging one’s own assumptions

    4) Educating for Democratic Participation and Human Rights

    Educational focus:
    Linking media literacy to citizenship education, democratic values, freedom of expression and human rights.

    Related competencies: Understanding international human rights standards, Freedom of information and participation, Democratic engagement and active citizenship

    5) Peace Education through Media Literacy and Student Action

    Educational focus:
    Using media literacy as a tool to promote peace, solidarity, non-violence and student-led initiatives for positive social change.

    Related competencies: Peacebuilding, solidarity and sustainable development, Engaging as active and global citizens, Using media and information for social impact
