  • Recent ecumenical dialogues in Assisi have proposed to elevate the Feast of Creation (01 September or the first Sunday of September) to become a liturgical feast in different Christian denominational calendars. While some might observe it as a 'day of prayer', many national churches are already starting to implement the liturgical Feast, often with the title "Feast of Creation in Christ". It is a movement filled with ecumenical hope.

This webinar will provide an overview of this exciting ecumenical process, offer practical resources for establishing the Feast in liturgical calendars, and offer the chance to participate in breakout discussions for different global communions. The event is organized by the Feast of Creation international committee, chaired by the World Council of Churches in collaboration with various world communions, for their respective member churches.

(Following the webinar, online workshops specifically for liturgists will also be held later in April and May, to explore in depth the liturgical resources available to implement the new Feast.)

Speakers: Bishop Heinrich Bedford-Strohm (moderator of World Council of Churches), Rachel Mash (Anglican Communion), Antoine Al Ahmar (Middle East Council of Churches), Louk Andrianos (World Council of Churches), Cheryl Lindsay (Consultation on Common Texts), Tony Franklin-Ross (World Methodist Council).

Length: The webinar will last 80min (55min of presentations and dialogue in plenary, 25min of breakout sessions by denomination).
