Disclosure Engagement Agreement
Tax Year 2025
Dear Client:
Thank you for the opportunity to assist you with the preparation of your 2025 federal and applicable state income tax returns. This Engagement Agreement outlines the terms, responsibilities, and disclosures governing our professional relationship and the services to be performed on your behalf.
By signing this document, you acknowledge and affirm that all information provided for your 2025 tax return, including but not limited to earned and unearned income, expenses, deductions, credits, dependents, and filing status, is true, correct, and complete to the best of your knowledge.
This letter serves as our formal agreement. Please review it carefully and sign to confirm your understanding and acceptance of the terms outlined below.
Client Responsibilities and Accuracy of Information
You are responsible for providing all information necessary for the preparation of a complete and accurate tax return. Green Valley Tax Tech will rely exclusively on the information you provide and will not independently verify such information, although clarification may be requested when necessary.
By signing this agreement, you confirm that any information provided verbally, electronically, via text message, or in writing is accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge. Any information provided verbally may require additional written acknowledgment for compliance purposes.
You understand that providing false, misleading, or incomplete information for tax reporting purposes is unlawful and may subject you to penalties, interest, audits, or other enforcement actions by federal or state taxing authorities.
Credits, Filing Status, and Due Diligence Acknowledgment
If you are claiming any of the following for the 2025 tax year:
Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)
Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC)
Education Credits
Head of Household Filing Status
you acknowledge that all questions asked by your tax preparer were answered truthfully and that all information provided regarding dependents, residency, support, and eligibility meets IRS requirements under current law, including due-diligence standards applicable to paid tax return preparers.
Qualifying Child Requirements for EITC (Summary)
You acknowledge understanding that a qualifying child for EITC must meet all of the following tests:
1. Relationship Test
The child must be your:
Son, daughter, stepchild, foster child, adopted child, or a descendant of any of them
Brother, sister, half-sibling, step-sibling, or a descendant of any of them
2. Age Test
The child must be:
Under age 19 at the end of the year, or
A full-time student under age 24, or
Permanently and totally disabled at any time during the year (no age limit)
3. Residency Test
The child must have lived with you for more than half of the tax year.
4. Joint Return Test
A qualifying child generally cannot file a joint return unless filing solely to claim a refund. A qualifying child may not be claimed by more than one taxpayer, subject to IRS tie-breaker rules.
Acknowledgements and Terms
You understand that all information provided is submitted to the Internal Revenue Service and applicable state revenue agencies.
You acknowledge that Green Valley Tax Tech is responsible only for errors or omissions directly attributable to the preparer. Green Valley Tax Tech is not responsible for additional tax due resulting from inaccurate or incomplete information provided by you. Liability for penalties and interest applies only where caused by preparer error.
You understand that tax returns may be subject to examination or audit by taxing authorities. In the event of an audit, you are responsible for producing supporting documentation. Green Valley Tax Tech is available to assist with audit support services, which are billed separately unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Review of Completed Return
Upon completion of your return and payment of applicable preparation fees, you will receive a copy of your tax return. You are responsible for reviewing the return carefully. If you identify any issues or believe corrections are necessary, you must notify us immediately so we may address the matter promptly.
Fees and Payment Terms
Fees are based on the complexity of the return, time involved, and the number of schedules and forms required under federal and state law. Fees are due at the time services are rendered.
If you elect to have preparation fees deducted from your refund, you understand that if your refund is delayed, reduced, or offset for any reason, you remain responsible for payment of the full balance, which will become due immediately.
Confidentiality and Data Protection
We are required to maintain the confidentiality of all client information obtained during this engagement. No information will be disclosed without your consent unless required or permitted by law. This obligation continues even after the termination of our professional relationship.
Green Valley Tax Tech maintains physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect your confidential information in compliance with applicable privacy and data-security regulations.
Communications Authorization
By signing this agreement, you authorize Green Valley Tax Tech to communicate with you regarding your tax return and related products and services via phone, email, text message, fax, or mail.
