    Class description:

    • This will be a story and writing exploration of three Folklore archetypes that have crashed through space and time to continue to be heard in different contexts, formations, and world views.

    • We will learn some beginning folklore about Mary Magdalene and La Malinche from Mexico, and do some simple somatic experiencing exercises to see how they resonate with our bodies.

    • These exercises will help spur creative and healing writing to understanding more about their messages of autonomy and inner liberation, while seeking to make our own connections with their themes and messages. This workshop is based on Folklore and Creative Writing modalities, Writing For Change frameworks, and Somatic Experiencing.

    • This workshop is interactive and asks students to discuss the topics and share their writing if comfortable.

    • For folks that feel comfortable, we can create a small group zine from the writings generated from the class.
