Accounting Senior Lead

This role is responsible for leading the payroll accounting processes for a global SaaS company, supporting the US and Canada payroll accounting functions within the General Ledger team. The position oversees complex payroll-related accounting activities including journal entries, reconciliations, stock compensation accounting, and audit support, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely financial reporting.
This role works closely with cross-functional global teams such as Payroll Operations, People Operations, and Finance to maintain data integrity across HRIS and ERP systems while continuously improving payroll accounting processes and controls.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5+ years GL Accounting experience (US Accounting)
- Experience managing or leading accounting processes and collaborating with global teams
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and international accounting standards related to payroll accounting
- Experience working with NetSuite ERP
- Hands-on experience with journal entries, reconciliations, flux analysis, and payroll-related reporting
- Experience supporting month-end and quarter-end close activities
- Knowledge of stock-based compensation accounting, including Employee
- Stock Purchase Plans (ESPP) and Restricted Stock Units (RSU)
- Experience supporting financial statement audits and payroll-related audits such as 401(k) and Workers’ Compensation audits
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to reconcile complex payroll data across systems such as HRIS, ERP, and banking platforms
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to explain accounting concepts to cross-functional stakeholders
- Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in the SaaS industry is highly preferred
