  • GENERAL INFORMATION

    The Omega-DMM Scholarship is specifically designed to support African American young men who are graduating high school seniors or currently enrolled in college and pursuing an undergraduate degree. Delta Mu Mu Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. (DMM) offers these scholarships to help Black men in their academic pursuits while addressing disparities in educational access and achievement. The scholarships are merit and need-based. Since the program's inception, DMM has awarded over $800,000 in scholarships to deserving African American students from metro Atlanta.

    • Application Period: January 26, 2026, through Sunday, March 1, 2026.
    • Scholarship awards will be notified via email during the week of April 13, 2026.
    • Scholarship amount: $5,000 (this is expected to be applied toward tuition, room, board, books, and living expenses).
    • This is a non-renewable scholarship opportunity (applicants and recipients can reapply in future years).
    • If awarded, attendance at DMM's annual scholarship brunch is required to receive your award.  This year's brunch is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 10 AM to Noon (location TBD).
    • If awarded, recipients agree to have a DMM representative follow up periodically throughout the award's school year to monitor the awardee's scholastic experience.

     

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

    • African American males only.
    • Must be either:
      • A spring 2026 graduating high school senior who has been accepted, full-time, to an accredited 4-year college or university in the U.S. for the fall of 2026 OR 
      • Currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student in good standing at an accredited college or university in the U.S.
    • Possess a grade point average of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 system (or equivalent on an alternative system)
    • Demonstrate financial need.
    • Be a U.S. citizen and resident of Georgia from the metro Atlanta area.

     

    REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

    • Completion of the online application in full.  Incomplete applications will be disqualified and not be considered.
    • High school or college transcript.
    • PDF of your Free Application for Federal Student Aid form (FAFSA) Submission Summary.
    • College acceptance letter (HS seniors only; this must be received before issuing any scholarship).
    • Two letters of recommendation from a teacher/administrator and/or community leader attesting to your academic achievement, leadership, and character.
    • An essay not to exceed 500 words on the following topic:  What is the central problem/challenge affecting African American male college students in 2026?  Please note: use of assistance software and/or technology (i.e., AI tools) in creating your original work is strictly prohibited. The DMM Scholarship Committee will utilize detection software to determine the usage of AI to assist with the essay. If the content is found to be above a 40% threshold, the essay and application will be disqualified.

I certify that I am currently enrolled and in good standing as a senior in high school, enrolled in or applying for full-time enrollment to a four-year college or university for the 2026 - 2027 academic year and I am eligible to receive scholarships granted under the program. Lastly, I grant the Delta Mu Mu Chapter, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and its affilitate, Committment to Excellence, Inc., permission to publish my name, picture, and amount of award and personal biographical information in conjunction with this award.
