  • Text Procurement for Pilot

  • As a Novel-based curriculum that relies on homework reading outside of the school day, we highly advise that schools budget to purchase 1:1 texts for students for your chosen curriculum pathway.

Novel’s preferred book distributors are Reading Warehouse and Lightswitch Learning, which both keep inventory of our correct ISBNs in order to ensure timely delivery. You can find helpful order forms on both websites, which are aligned to our course pathways and indicate whether 1:1 texts or a class set is advised.

  • Optional SAT or ACT Supplement

  • For SY26-27, based on partner demand, we are building two Novel ELA test preparation supplements that are designed to weave into your Novel ELA scope and sequence in grade 9 and/or grade 10.

    • The Novel ACT Supplement: English

    • The Novel SAT Supplement: Expression of Ideas + English Conventions

Each of these 25-day supplements will include Novel-quality, fully built out lesson materials (unit plan, lessons, slide decks, Knowledge Organizers, and handouts), designed to be taught on strategically placed flex days across your 9th, 10th, and/or 11th scope and sequence.

The supplemental "unit" assumes students are getting at-bats with reading comprehension practice during the core Novel ELA block, so the supplement will instead focus on the grammar, language, and convention standards and skills needed for the SAT or ACT, respectively. The supplement will link out to high quality released assessments on Khan Academy's free portal.

  • Central to Novel's theory of action is that curriculum alone is not enough: leaders and teachers need and deserve ongoing, aligned support on how to effectively implement and adapt their curriculum and how to build school-wide systems to sustain effective instruction and outcomes. Put simply: it’s not enough to simply have the “right stuff.” You must also implement with focus, clarity, and flexibility.

That’s where our team comes in: our core business is offering intensive support for schools in implementing and adapting high quality instructional materials - like Novel ELA - to experience success in their unique context. As such, Novel offers high quality PD modules in a "train the trainer" model for both teachers and leaders, as well as intensive, year-long partnerships that include weekly coaching and artifact review, monthly PD, quarterly full-day site visits, and data analysis and implementation planning.

Our supports can be bundled or a la carte, and are completely customized around your schedule, needs, and context. We go all in on support to yield big results.

  • Professional Development: Novel Leader Institute (Webinar Series)

We’re excited to share our SY26-27 PD Arc of the Year, which outlines the important dates to hold for all Novel Leader Institute webinars for next school year.

This virtual webinar PD series is designed for Novel ELA instructional leaders, and it will provide ALL of the teacher-facing and leader-facing PD you will need for your implementation - including a license to "turnkey" the sessions to teachers at your school(s) in a "train the trainer" model.

Our Novel Leader Institute webinars are scoped along a developmentally appropritate arc of the year. We highly recommend that any 1st and 2nd year Novel ELA leaders on your campuses plan to attend these trainings; there is enough differentiation to these sessions between SY25-26 and SY26-27 that even leaders who attended Novel PD last school year will benefit immensely from these sessions.
