The A-Lead Program, launched in March 2019 by OACWA, focuses on enhancing leadership and networking skills among African Australian Women while addressing stereotypes and leadership gaps. Employing an Assets Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, the program leverages community leaders' strengths through workshops, mentoring, networking, and self-confidence development. In the past, the program has aimed at existing and emerging community leaders & entrepreneurs in WA, it consisted of fortnightly half-day thematic sessions over 3-4 months and provided free of charge to participants. The current approach focus on a 3-4 weeks intense program with the same focus on all community members. Certificates of Participation will be awarded at the program's graduation ceremony during the 2027 IWD. Previously graduated over 100 leaders across three programs (four groups), A-LEAD Program has had a profound impact on participants, their communities, and society at large. A non-refundable registration fee of $200 is payable, which includes a ticket for IWD 2026. Successful applicants will be given a detailed plan of the program.
