Sacred Conversations 2026 - Code of Conduct Agreement
  • Sacred Conversations Code of Conduct Agreement

Review the Code of Conduct and acknowledge your commitment to upholding these principles by providing your name, signature, and date below.
  • Our Mission

Sacred Conversations is a Christian mission for men. We gather every six weeks to explore issues of masculinity and to create a world of hope by healing and restoring the hearts of men.

Our conversations are grounded in three pillars: Strength, Tenderness and Courage.

This Code of Conduct exists to protect the sacred nature of our gatherings and to ensure a safe, respectful, and intentional space for every man.

    1. Confidentiality: Keeping It Sacred

What is shared in Sacred Conversations stays in Sacred Conversations. Personal stories, struggles and experiences are held in confidence and are not discussed outside the group. There is no gossip outside the group, in word or in spirit.

    Limits to confidentiality:

If a man is at risk of harming himself or others, confidentiality may need to be broken in order to seek appropriate support.

    2. Respect and Non-Judgement

There is no judgement in this group. Each man’s story, faith journey, emotions and experiences are received with compassion and humility. We treat one another with dignity and brotherhood. Differences are respected, and we listen to understand rather than to evaluate, challenge or fix.

    3. Responsibility and Emotional Safety

Each man takes responsibility for regulating his own emotions and staying safe. The invitation is to be open, honest and vulnerable, and to reach out for support both inside and outside the group. Participation in Sacred Conversations does not replace therapy or professional support. We honour personal boundaries while holding space for healing and restoration.

    4. Punctuality

Arriving on time honours the group, the process and the sacred nature of the gathering. Please make every effort to be present from beginning to end.

    5. All Feelings Are Welcome

    • All emotions are welcome in this space.
    • Strength includes vulnerability.
    • Tenderness includes honesty.
    • Courage includes naming what is true for you.

    6. Speaking, Silence, and Listening Around the Fire

    • Speak for yourself using “I” statements.
    • It is always okay to pass if you do not wish to speak.
    • Silence is maintained while another man is speaking.
    • There is no interrupting, questioning or cross-talk.
    • When a man is holding the staff, he has the floor.
    • We listen deeply and attentively.
    • Follow the lead and guidance of the facilitator at all times.

Silence around the fire is welcomed and honoured as part of the conversation.

    7. Feedback and Advice

We do not give feedback or advice unless it is clearly invited and guided by the facilitator. Our role is to witness, listen and hold space rather than to solve or correct.

    8. Mobile Phones, Smart Watches, and Recording

Mobile phones and smart watches are switched off or set aside for the duration of the gathering to protect presence and attentiveness. No audio, video or photographic recording of any nature is permitted without prior consultation and explicit permission from the facilitators and all participants.

    9. Drugs and Alcohol

To protect safety, clarity and the integrity of our conversations, participants are asked to arrive sober. No alcohol or recreational drugs are to be consumed before or during Sacred Conversations gatherings.

    10. The Fire and Sacred Space

Nothing is to be thrown into the fire, especially items that could cause harm, danger or disruption. We are all responsible for keeping the space clean, safe and sacred, honouring the land, the fire and the circle we gather in.

    11. Safety and Support

If at any time you feel unsafe, distressed or overwhelmed, please inform the facilitators. We encourage reaching out for additional support when needed, including organisations such as Lifeline or other appropriate professional services.

By participating in Sacred Conversations, each man agrees to uphold this Code of Conduct and to contribute to a space of strength, tenderness, courage and hope.
