GENERAL INFORMATION
Ernest Everett Just grew to become a great student. His first three semesters at Dartmouth produced an average grade of 78.8. Yet, he persevered and discovered his academic footing, advancing continually to achieve an average grade of 92.2 over his last five semesters, earning Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude honors.
Inspired by the academic diligence and progress of Omega Psi Phi Founder, Dr. Ernest Everett Just, Delta Mu Mu Chapter, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity (DMM), Inc., presents the inaugural Just Scholar. The Just Scholar is a full 4-year tuition & fees scholarship to any 4-year University System of Georgia institution for an African American male high school senior with a grade point average of 2.5 to 2.99 (on a 4-point scale) who continually improves and/or maintains their collegiate grade point average* similar to the progression of Dr. Just during his collegiate years.

- Application Period: January 26, 2026, through Sunday, March 1, 2026.
- Finalists will be notified via email by Monday, April 13, 2026.
- Interviews are required for all Finalists. Interviews will take place in person or via Zoom during the week of Monday, April 20, 2026.
- The awardee will be notified by Saturday, May 2, 2026.
- Scholarship amount: Full 4-year tuition & fees scholarship to any 4-year University System of Georgia institution (amount to be paid directly to the institution).
- Continuation of scholarship is dependent on maintaining or increasing the awardee's grade point average semester-over-semester during their undergraduate collegiate tenure (not to exceed four years). Terms and conditions apply based on a signed scholarship agreement.
- If awarded, attendance at DMM's annual scholarship brunch is required to receive your award. This year's brunch is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 10 AM to Noon (location TBD).
- If awarded, recipients agree to have a DMM representative follow up periodically throughout the award's school year to monitor the awardee's scholastic experience (required).
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- African American males only.
- A spring 2026 graduating high school senior who has been accepted or pending acceptance to a full-time 4-year college or university in the University System of Georgia.
- Possess a grade point average between 2.50 and 2.99 on a 4.0 system (or equivalent on an alternative system)
- Demonstrate financial need.
- Be a U.S. citizen and resident of Georgia from the metro Atlanta area.
In order to maintain the status of The Just Scholar and continue to receive the scholarship, the awardee must continually improve and/or maintain their grade point average during the 4-year award period, subject to terms and conditions.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
- Completion of the online application in full. Incomplete applications will be disqualified and not be considered.
- High school transcript.
- PDF of your Free Application for Federal Student Aid form (FAFSA) Submission Summary
- College acceptance letter (this must be received before issuing any scholarship).
- Two letters of recommendation from a teacher/administrator and/or community leader attesting to your academic achievement, leadership, and character.
- An essay not to exceed 500 words on the following topic: What is the central problem/challenge affecting African American male college students in 2026? Please note: use of assistance software and/or technology (i.e., AI tools) in creating your original work is strictly prohibited. The DMM Scholarship Committee will utilize detection software to determine the usage of AI to assist with the essay. If the content is found to be above a 40% threshold, the essay and application will be disqualified.
