About Bee U NYC: Bee U NYC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing environmental education, sustainability, and workforce development across New York City. We provide underrepresented communities with equitable access to hands-on learning opportunities in urban beekeeping, environmental stewardship, and green career pathways.

Our programs combine experiential education, leadership development, and environmental justice to prepare the next generation of environmental changemakers. • Position Overview: The Lead Urban Beekeeping Fellowship (UBF) Facilitator plays a central role in delivering Bee U NYC’s flagship youth program, the Urban Beekeeping Fellowship. This role is ideal for an experienced educator, beekeeper, or youth development practitioner who is passionate about experiential learning, environmental justice, and creating accessible pathways into the green economy.

The Lead UBF Facilitator is responsible for co-facilitating weekly sessions, including classroom-based lessons and field experiences, while creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment. They support youth in building technical knowledge of honey bee biology and urban beekeeping practices, as well as transferable skills such as teamwork, communication, and confidence. The Facilitator works closely with Bee U NYC staff, beekeepers, and community partners to ensure sessions are well-coordinated and aligned with program goals.

In addition to instruction, the Lead Facilitator helps mentor Fellows, model professional behavior, reinforce safety protocols, and support public-facing components of the program, such as Environmental Action Projects or the Green Jobs Panel. This role is both educational and relational, requiring strong facilitation skills, reliability, and a commitment to youth-centered, place-based learning.
