Position Overview: The Lead Urban Beekeeping Fellowship (UBF) Facilitator plays a central role in delivering Bee U NYC’s flagship youth program, the Urban Beekeeping Fellowship. This role is ideal for an experienced educator, beekeeper, or youth development practitioner who is passionate about experiential learning, environmental justice, and creating accessible pathways into the green economy.
The Lead UBF Facilitator is responsible for co-facilitating weekly sessions, including classroom-based lessons and field experiences, while creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment. They support youth in building technical knowledge of honey bee biology and urban beekeeping practices, as well as transferable skills such as teamwork, communication, and confidence. The Facilitator works closely with Bee U NYC staff, beekeepers, and community partners to ensure sessions are well-coordinated and aligned with program goals.
In addition to instruction, the Lead Facilitator helps mentor Fellows, model professional behavior, reinforce safety protocols, and support public-facing components of the program, such as Environmental Action Projects or the Green Jobs Panel. This role is both educational and relational, requiring strong facilitation skills, reliability, and a commitment to youth-centered, place-based learning.
The Lead UBF Facilitator is a key ambassador of Bee U NYC’s mission and values, helping participants connect their hands-on experiences with broader environmental, community, and career pathways.
