Mobile Arts Council
9am-1pm March 14, 2026
Join Mobile Arts Council for an Anthotype Photography Workshop led by Wayne McNeil at Springhill College in their Murphy Fine Art Building on March 14, 2026 from 9am to 1pm. This will be a hands on immersive wrokshop exploring Anthotype photography. This style photography is a historic, non-toxic image-making process that merges art, science, and nature. In this workshop, Wayne McNeil will guide participants through the full anthotype process—from preparing plant-based emulsions to exposing prints in sunlight. Participants will learn how natural pigments found in flowers, and fruits respond to light through photodegradation, producing soft, organic images unique to this process. This workshop is ideal for artists, photographers, educators, and curious creatives of all experience levels who are interested in sustainable art practices and experimental photography. By the end of the session, participants will leave with two completed anthotype prints and a foundational understanding of the technique they can incorporate into future creative work.
