    Communities in Mind Application

  • Communities in Mind is a collaborative mental health fundraising initiative launched in 2020 to support mental health programs in rural Alberta. Each February, five Alberta Co-ops, including Cornerstone Co-op, Central Alberta Co-op, New Horizon Co-op, South Country Co-op, and Westview Co-op, come together for a province-wide campaign focused on:

    • Raising awareness
    • Reducing stigma
    • Funding meaningful, community-based mental health initiatives

    Since launch, the campaign has raised nearly $300,000, with 100% of funds staying local and invested back into each Co-op’s trading area.

  • Our Funding Priority Areas Include:

    We support initiatives that create real mental health impact, with a focus on:

    • Mental Health Programs & Services: Hands-on tools, workshops, support programs, and community engagement opportunities.
    • Education & Awareness: Initiatives that help communities better understand mental health and how to access services.
    • Prevention & Early Intervention: Programs focused on children and youth.
    • Community Support: Projects that strengthen connection, resilience, and local support networks.
  • Who is Eligible for Support?

    Eligible applicants include:

    ✅ Registered non-profit or charitable organizations
    ✅ Community groups and youth organizations
    ✅ Programs supporting mental health or addiction services
    ✅ Organizations operating within Cornerstone Co-op’s trading area

  • Applications open April 1, 2026.
    Eligible organizations are invited to complete the application form below to be considered for funding

  • Funding Restrictions

    Funds cannot be used for:

    ❌ Annual operating costs
    ❌ Physical items or facility upgrades (e.g. furniture, décor, lighting)

    If your program/service is approved, you will be required to meet with the Co-op Marketing Committee to review signage consistency with Cornerstone Co-op branding. (Note: Co-op must be publicly recognized for its support. The Local Co-op Name and Logo must be pre-approved by the Marketing Committee, and copies of any documents must be included with your reporting).

    Please note: Each project is unique, therefore the cost of signage pertaining to each project will be discussed in collaboration with Cornerstone Co-op on a case-by-case basis
