Purpose and Award
The South Carolina Tennis Foundation (SCTF) awards multiple college scholarships each year to graduating high school seniors based on established academic, extracurricular, community involvement, and tennis participation criteria.
In 1993, SCTF established two scholarships, named in honor of Lucy Garvin and Jim Russell.
The Randall G. Heffron, D.M.D. Memorial Scholarship, established in 2005, follows the same selection criteria as the Foundation Scholarships and is selected by the SCTF Scholarship Committee. This scholarship is funded through contributions to the Coastal Community Foundation.
The Foster Family Scholarship, added in 2016, follows the same general criteria but is awarded only to applicants who have played at least two years of high school tennis, including their senior year. This scholarship is funded by Amy Foster Martin in memory of her parents, Sonny and Jerry Foster, and her brother, Larry Foster.
Beginning in 2026, all scholarship awards will be $2,500 for the freshman year only.
