ASSW 2026 Indigenous Travel Support Application Form
The Standing Committee on Indigenous Involvement (SCII) of the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC) is pleased to announce the availability of a limited number of travel awards for Indigenous early career researchers, Indigenous Elders, and Indigenous Knowledge Holders, or Indigenous Youth to attend the Arctic Science Summit Week (ASSW) 2026 (including the Arctic Observing Summit 2026) (25 March – 1 April 2026, Aarhus, Denmark).

Eligible applicants include Indigenous early career researchers, Indigenous Elders, and Indigenous Knowledge Holders, or Indigenous Youth with an Arctic focus who are
- affiliated with with institutions or organizations in an IASC member country, or
- traveling from Arctic and Northern regions within an IASC member country and collaborating with an institution / organisation in that country or are invited by them to participate in ASSW 2026
Early career researchers are defined as being within five years of their final degree (for example, PhD), with consideration given for career interruptions such as caregiving or community responsibilities.

Applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Confirmed attendance and participation in an official IASC Meeting and SCII (Standing Committee on Indigenous Involvement) meeting during ASSW 2026; or
- Accepted for an oral or poster presentation at ASSW 2026, or presenting as part of an approved Indigenous Pavilion or Indigenous-led session, including contributions grounded in Indigenous knowledge systems, community-based research, or lived expertise; and / or
- Commit to a panel discussion during the Indigenous Pavillion at ASSW 2026
Priority will be given to Indigenous participants whose presence contributes directly to Indigenous leadership, governance, and knowledge-sharing within ASSW 2026. Applications that do not meet at least one of the above criteria will not be considered.

Applicants may apply for IASC support to partially cover their:
- - Travel costs from their home to and from Aarhus
  - Accommodation costs in Aarhus (maximum 130 Euros per night)
  - Registration Fee
The application deadline is on 5 February 2026 at 13:00 GMT via the form below. Late applicants will not be considered.

Successful recipients will be informed before 13 February 2026.

Applicants not selected for funding will remain on a waiting list for funding until 27 February 2026 and will be informed if funding opens up. We will only contact waitlisted applicants if funding is available for them. If applicants have not been contacted by 27 February, their application has been rejected.
