    Application for 2026 Academic Scholarship Awards
  • The Hemophilia Foundation of Michigan is proud to offer two individuals the opportunitiy to advance their academic pursuits through our annual scholarship. 

    Each year, members of the Michigan bleeding disorder community participate on the scholarship committee, reading and scoring applications that have had personal and identifying information removed. The two applicants with the highest total scores from the committee are awarded the scholarhips.

  • If selected for the HFM Annual Scholarship, you will recieve your award in person at SpringFest 2026, April 18-19th.

  • Application, verification of Bleeding Disorder, and personal statement are due by Sunday, March 22, 2026 at midnight.

    • Please be advised, you will need to upload all the verification of bleeding disorder and personal statement before you are able to submit the online application.
    • No transcripts are required.
    • Michigan residents are elgible to apply.
    • You must be at least a senior in high school to apply.
    • Past scholarship winners and relatives of HFM staff members are ineligible to apply.
    • There are two categories of enteries*:
      • applicants from community college, undergrad and trade school, the 
      • applicants pursing graduate school
      • *Should there be only one applicant from either category, everyone will be scored as one group

  • Please select one of the following two questions to submit for your appclication. At the top of your application, for the benefit of the Application Review Committee, please indicate what question you chose to answer. 

    1. "Share a personal story of how your life has been impacted by a bleeding disorder—either through your own diagnosis or that of a close family member. How has navigating these challenges shaped your character and strengthened your determination to pursue your educational goals?"
    2. "Describe your academic and career aspirations. How do you plan to use your education to make a positive impact, and how has your personal or familial experience with a bleeding disorder influenced your vision for the future?"

    Please submit your personal statement of 450-550 words (document must be a .doc or .pdf).
