Paul Kuntze is a Berlin based contemporary painter whose practice is shaped by a lifelong fascination with classical ceiling frescoes. Drawing from the visual language of Baroque painting, he reinterprets monumental celestial imagery through abstraction, merging historical reverence with a modern sensibility in his Modern Fresco series.
Falling Angels, Kuntze’s debut exhibition with Square One Gallery, presents a new body of works depicting his signature drifting clouds and fragmented human figures suspended in motion. Built through layered acrylic gradients and expressive gestures, the works resist fixed realism, inviting viewers to engage their own imagination. The exhibition positions Kuntze as an abstractionist deeply engaged with art history, offering a contemporary vision of tradition, movement, and human presence within imagined heavens.
