  • Girl Scout Outreach Program Facilitator Responsibilities

    The Outreach Program Facilitator is responsible for delivering high-quality Girl Scout programming to girls in schools and community-based afterschool settings. Facilitators create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where girls develop leadership skills, build confidence, and experience the benefits of Girl Scouting.

    Program Facilitation
    • Lead weekly Girl Scout troop meetings at assigned school or community sites.
    • Deliver age-appropriate activities aligned with the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
    • Facilitate badge work, skill-building activities, service projects, and leadership experiences.
    • Adapt activities to meet the needs and abilities of diverse participants.
    • Encourage active participation and foster a positive troop culture.
    • Support one field troop or weekend program for Outreach participants.

    Girl Engagement and Development
    • Build positive relationships with girls and serve as a role model.
    • Promote teamwork, inclusion, respect, and leadership development.
    • Encourage girls to try new experiences, express themselves, and develop confidence.
    • Support girls in setting goals and celebrating achievements.

    Program Management
    • Maintain accurate attendance records and submit required reports in a timely manner.
    • Prepare materials and supplies needed for troop meetings.
    • Track badge and award completion.
    • Ensure all required program documentation is completed according to council guidelines.

    Safety and Behavior Management
    • Always maintain a safe and emotionally supportive environment.
    • Follow all Girl Scout and site-specific safety procedures and policies.
    • Manage participant behavior using positive guidance techniques.
    • Report concerns incidents, or emergencies promptly to supervisors.

    Communication and Partnership Building
    • Maintain positive relationships with school staff, afterschool program staff, and community partners.
    • Communicate regularly with the Outreach Coordinator regarding troop progress, challenges, and successes.
    • Encourage family engagement and participation whenever possible.
    • Represent Girl Scouts professionally within the community.
    • Ensure regular communication with parents regarding GS program, activities and expectations.

    Product Program Participation
    • Promote participation in the Girl Scout Cookie Program and other council-sponsored activities.
    • Support girls in learning entrepreneurship, goal setting, and financial literacy through product programs.
    • Assist families with understanding participation opportunities and program requirements.

    Recruitment and Retention
    • Assist with girl recruitment and troop retention efforts.
    • Promote additional Girl Scout opportunities such as camps, events, and community programs.
    • Help ensure girls remain engaged and connected to the Girl Scout experience.

    Professional Responsibilities
    • Attend required staff meetings, training courses, and professional development opportunities.
    • Arrive on time and prepare for all assigned troop meetings.
    • Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to Girl Scout values.
    • Complete other duties as assigned to support the Outreach Program.

    Performance Expectations
    • Deliver quality troop meetings consistently throughout the program year.
    • Maintain strong attendance and participant engagement.
    • Submit required paperwork and reports on time.
    • Foster positive relationships with girls, families, schools, and community partners.
    • Always represent Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains in a professional and positive manner.
