  • Alabaster Water Board honors the memory of Field Services Manager, David A. Brooks, with the establishment of the Alabaster Water Board David A. Brooks Memorial Scholarship. David was a certified Grade IV Water Operator, an experienced heavy equipment operator, and a water system field maintenance professional. David was a motorcycle enthusiast, a ham radio operator and a proud husband, father and grandfather. David was a life-long learner and worked to continually better himself and those around him.  David was a man of many diverse skills that could fix almost anything and could be counted on to get the job done quickly and done right. David was a passionate water professional and took great pride in helping others grow their careers in the water industry.

  • Scholarship Eligibility and Requirements

    • The Alabaster Water Board David A. Brooks Memorial Scholarship requires students to be graduating seniors currently attending an Alabaster, AL high school or a current Alabaster Water Board employee. 
    • To be eligible for the Alabaster Water Board David A. Brooks Memorial Scholarship, applicants must be pursuing a bachelor or associate degree, credit-bearing certificate or an industry-recognized credential at a vocational-technical school, trade school, two-year community college or state college.
    • Previous scholarship recipients are eligible to apply for a second $2,500 scholarship with satisfactory grades and progress towards completion of a degree.
    • All scholarship applications must be submitted by March 31, 2026.  Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.  
    • In addition to the online application, applicants must also submit a recent school transcript and acceptance letter to their school or program of choice.
  • Scholarship Award

    • The Alabaster Water Board David A. Brooks Memorial Scholarship recipient will receive $2,500.  Payments will be made directly to the school or program of choice to be applied directly to the recipient's student account.
    • Applicants will be notified by April 30, 2026.
    • Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:
      • Academic record
      • Work experience
      • A statement of career and educational goals and aspirations
      • Unusual personal or family circumstances
