  • 2026 - 2027 Registration to Prepare for a Sacrament (Penance, Confirmation, Holy Communion)

For children and teens who have already been baptized
  • "Here is the true transformation I hope to achieve: family catechesis is not only a renewed approach to preparing our children to receive Baptism, Reconciliation, Confirmation and Eucharist, but is also a shift in focus toward lifelong faith formation with adults. After receiving these wonderful sacraments around the age of discretion, children will continue receiving faith formation with their families, growing in their prayer lives, developing virtuous hearts, and learning more about the great truths of our faith. In all of this, parents will be challenged and empowered to be the primary catechists, with the support of our parishes, in handing on our Catholic faith to another generation."

    - Bishop Wack in his Pastoral Letter Reborn, Anointed, Nourished: Faith and Formation for Life

  • Expectations of Sacrament Preparation

Sacramental catechesis is focused and specific to the sacrament being prepared for. It does not provide a comprehensive education in the Catholic Faith. It presupposes that a participating youth is receiving comprehensive formation in the Catholic Faith through Catholic school, parish-based religious education, or a qualified homeschool curriculum.

Parents need to be committed to their own Sunday obligations before enrolling children in sacrament preparation.

Preparation for the sacraments is incomplete without worship at Holy Mass every Sunday and on holy days of obligation.

The parent is responsible for obtaining the following documents and submitting them to the St. Paul parish office:

    1. The child's sacrament record, issued from the baptismal church within the past 6 months. A family's original copy does not suffice for this purpose because it does not reflect official updates or notations. This record request is not necessary for children baptized here at St. Paul Catholic Church.
    2. For Confirmation Sponsors: Letter from the sponsor's own pastor affirming that he or she meets the requirements of the Church to serve as a godparent or confirmation sponsor.

I have read and understand the expectations of sacramental preparation at St. Paul Catholic Church.
