The ACCA Awards of Excellence celebrate individuals and organizations who demonstrate exceptional leadership, innovation, compassion, and integrity in improving the quality of life of the people in their care.

Nominations should clearly demonstrate impact, outcomes, and contributions that go beyond day-to-day expectations. Nominators are encouraged to submit photos, videos, and audio recordings, as selected materials will be used to create a celebratory video shown at the Awards of Excellence Gala.

ALBERTA CARE PROVIDER OF THE YEAR AWARD

Recognizes front-line care providers who deliver exceptional client care through an outstanding commitment to quality, compassion, excellence, and enriching the lives of those in their care.

Eligibility & Criteria

• Nominee must be a front-line care provider in the continuing care sector.
• Examples must demonstrate care beyond normal job expectations.
• Nomination should clearly show a meaningful and measurable impact on clients, families, or colleagues.

ALBERTA VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AWARD

Recognizes volunteers in the continuing care sector who demonstrate exceptional commitment to quality, compassion, and enriching the lives of those in care.

Eligibility & Criteria

• Nominee must be a volunteer in the continuing care sector.
• Examples show how the nominee’s contributions go beyond expected volunteer activities.
• Impact on residents, families, or organizational culture should be clearly demonstrated.

LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

Recognizes individuals who have demonstrated an enduring commitment to client care and/or the continuing care sector over a period of 10 years or more. The nominee does not need to be a front-line care provider.

Eligibility & Criteria

• Demonstrated long-term impact on clients, organizations, or the sector as a whole.
• Clear evidence of legacy, leadership, and lasting influence.

INNOVATOR OF THE YEAR AWARD

Recognizes an individual or organization that has developed or introduced an innovation that measurably improves the quality of care in the continuing care sector.

Eligibility & Criteria

• The innovation must be new to the organization, site, or context.
• The nomination should clearly explain how the nominee challenged the status quo.
• Evidence of improved outcomes, impact, or quality of care.

ETHICAL LEADERSHIP & INTEGRITY AWARD

Recognizes an individual or organization that exemplifies ethical leadership through demonstrated alignment with the ACCA Code of Ethics, fostering a culture of integrity, accountability, transparency, and respect.

Eligibility & Criteria

• Nominee must be an ACCA Member.
• Clear examples of ethical decision-making aligned with the ACCA Code of Ethics.
• Demonstrated leadership actions that go beyond compliance.
• Evidence of values-driven leadership influencing culture or outcomes.

To nominate yourself, a colleague, or an organization, complete the nomination form and submit all required supporting materials. Incomplete nominations may not be considered.

Deadline: July 31, 2026

Finalists will be required to sign an image and media release allowing the ACCA to use submitted photos, videos, audio recordings, and testimonials for promotional and event purposes. Award recipients will be announced at the ACCA Awards of Excellence Gala on October 8, 2026.

What You Need to Submit

1. Visual Content (Required)

• Applications without sufficient photos and/or video will not be considered
• Photos showing the nominee and/or their work AND/OR
• A short video (1-2 minutes recommended)

2. A Voice Recording (Optional but encouraged)

A voice recording describing the nominee's work and impact. Recordings may be provided by the nominator, nominee, colleague, resident, family member, or supervisor. 

May be submitted as:

• An MP3 or WAV file
• Audio recorded directly over a video 

3. Additional Supporting Materials (Optional but encouraged)

• Comment cards or letters of appreciation
• Recognition, awards, or commendations
• Media coverage or internal recognition
