  • History and Background
    Pi Lambda Chi Latina Sorority, Inc. (PLC) Scholarship primarily aims to provide an educational support network for women on college campuses. The organization’s foundation and mission centers around scholarship, community service, sisterhood, and culture.

    The scholarship will be awarded to a Sister of Pi Lambda Chi who exemplifies the qualities of a leader who not only strive for academic excellence, but who are also actively engaged in their communities, both on and off campus. This scholarship will be awarded to one recipient in the amount of $1,000 to be applied to their tuition bill. 

    Requirements

    • Must be a Sister of Pi Lambda Chi 
    • Must be in good standing as determined by the National Board of Directors 
    • Must provide proof of enrollment for Fall 2025
    • Must provide proof of GPA through unofficial/official transcripts 
    • Minimum 2.5 Culmutive GPA

    Application Process

    Pi Lambda Chi Latina Sorority, Inc. Scholarship Fund primarily aims to provide an educational support to women who embody what our organization stands for: Academic Excellence, Community Service, Empowerment, and Preserving Latina Culture. After completing the application, please refer to this checklist to ensure you have the proper documentation to submit the application. Failure to submit all required items, falsifying records (GPA/Enrollment), and/or plagarizing will be disqualified as an applicant from scholarship consideration. Please enclose the following items to ensure a completed application has been submitted: 

    • Complete each question in the Scholarship Application
    • Upload a transcript
    • Letter of Recommendations (Optional)

    All application materials must be received  by: March 31, 2026 (by 11:59 PM MST)

    Notification of Winners

    Scholarship recipients will be notified via email, or phone if email not available, between May 1st, 2026 - May 5th, 2026. Scholarship proceeds will be sent directly to the applicant's school for the Fall 2026 school semester or quarter. National Board of Directors will review each application thoroughly and ensure that all applications meet criteria. Pi Lambda Chi Scholarship decisions are final. 

    Receiving Funds

    If selected as a recipient of this scholarship, funds will be directly sent to your college/university to be applied to your Fall 2025 semester or quarter tuition.

  • Frequently Asked Questions

    • If a Sister has been awarded a scholarship in a previous year, are they eligible to apply again?
      Yes. If a new application is submitted and the Sister is selected again, it is possible for a person to receive more than one scholarship over the years from Pi Lambda Chi.


    • How are scholarship recipients selected?
      The National Board of Directors will select the scholarship winner based on criteria revolving our Four Rays of Excellence, Mission, and Motto. All decisions of the committee are final. 

    • How are scholarship recipients notified?
      The Scholarship Committee will notify all scholarship recipients through contact information provided in their application by the end of May 15, 2026. The names will also be posted on our social media platforms and website.

    • Which PLC Sisters can receive the scholarship?
      Any Madres, Comadres, or Hermanas that are in good standing and meet all the criteria for the scholarship are eligible and encouraged to apply. 

    • Can non-members of PLC receive this scholarship? 
      No. This scholarship is specifically for Sisters of Pi Lambda Chi. We have another open scholarship for non-PLC members!
    • If I would like to make changes to the application I submitted, can I resubmit my application?
      We recommend that you carefully review the application for accuracy before it is submitted. If you have questions or revisions to the submitted application, please contact PLCNB.Academics@gmail.com.

  • Essay Questionnaire

  • Please upload essay word document using the appropriate link below. Put your name on the essay and save the file using your name as the file name example: AndreaRamirezScholarship.

    Please answer all the questions in a word document. Answers must be typed in Times New Roman, 12 point, double-spaced. Number each essay answer in correlation to the essay questions. Each essay answer must have a minimum of 200 words and a maximum of 500 words.

    1. What are your academic and career goals? How will this scholarship help those goals?
    2. What does “community” mean to you? When and how have you made a difference in your community?
    3. What does "empowerment" mean to you? How do you plan to empower yourself and others during your college career and after?
    4. How has your culture/identity shaped who you are today? Why is it important to preserve ones culture? 
    5. Please share a photo of yourself so that we can put a name to the Sister applying, and if you win this will be used to annouce the winner on our communications platforms.

  • Letters of Recommendation (Optional)

  • If you choose to have a letter of recommendation submitted, these should come from but are not limited to: university or college administrators, educators, counselors, community service supervisors, and/or athletic coaches. Recommendation letters from family/friends are not accepted. 

    Criteria:

    • Recommenders should highlight on any or all of the following:
      • Sister's contribution to the class, club/organization, team, company, etc.
      • Student's leadership, communication, and personal skills
      • Why the student is deserving of the PLC Scholarship
      • Important details the National Board of Directors must be aware of.
    • Recommenders must give their brief credentials
    • Letters must be emailed by March 31st, 2026 to:
