• Sharon White & JD Scholarship

  • Overview

    The Sharon White & JD Scholarship is designed to support an African American student who stutters and will graduate from a Washington, DC High School.  This scholarship aims to invest in students who are poised to make a positive impact in their communities and beyond.

    Eligibility Requirements

    • Must be a current high school senior
    • Must reside in Washington, DC
    • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.50
    • Must have been diagnosed with childhood onset stuttering by a speech therapist or physician
    • Must be African American
    • Must plan to enroll in a postsecondary institution (college, university, or accredited trade program)
    • Demonstrated leadership, service, or community involvement
    • Finalists must participate in an interview hosted by the selection committee

    Scholarship Award

    One-time $5,000 scholarship award ($2,500 will be disbursed in the Fall 2026 semester and $2,500 will be disbursed in the Spring 2027 semester).
    Funds will be paid directly to the institution and may be used for tuition, housing, meals, or textbooks.

    Please complete all sections of this application. Incomplete applications may not be considered. All materials must be submitted by March 31, 2026.
