Available to schools in the following counties: Anderson, Bourbon, Clark, Fayette, Franklin, Harrison, Jessamine, Madison, Montgomery, Scott and/or Woodford.
Purpose: To supply three schools with one pallet of books per school to provide pre-K through 3rd grade students with at-home libraries to enhance literacy, raise reading scores, and support family engagement in reading. Books will be selected, packed, and shipped at no cost to the school.
- One pallet of books is 28 boxes, with 50 – 100 books per box. Total number of books will be between 1,400 and 2,800.
- While IBP staff will work with you to select grade level and subject areas, we are unable to provide specific titles.
- We will leave distribution methods up to the schools chosen, but books must be distributed to students for at-home use.
- Books are provided as-is, and are in like new to gently used condition.
Eligibility:
Eligible applicants must:
- Be a public, private, or charter elementary school
- Serve students in Pre-K through 3rd grade
- Have students who demonstrate a need for additional at-home reading materials
- Have the capacity to receive, store, and distribute palletized book shipments
Project Criteria:
If selected, schools must agree to:
- Distribute books to students for at-home use
- Provide reading/literacy test scores at the start and end of the project
- Provide photos of distribution event
- Provide testimonials from teachers, administrators, and/or students
