• Dear Prospective SGA Senate Member,

Thank you for taking a moment to complete this form. The purpose of this form is to allow you to express your interest in SGA and to enable the Student Involvement Office, where SGA is housed, to confirm that you are eligible to run for a student leadership position. If approved, the SGA Senator elections will take place in March of this semester, and your peers will vote on your candidacy.

Please read all information below carefully and answer all applicable questions.

    The Purpose of SGA

The Student Government Association’s aim is to further the educational, spiritual, and relational development of the Wheaton College community through elected servant leaders who represent student concerns and initiatives. SGA is the primary vehicle for students to engage in College governance.

SGA is composed of the President, Vice President, Executive Board, and 20 elected Senators, with five Senate seats representing each class year. These positions are elected by the student body in March of 2026. Freshman Senators are elected in Fall 2026. Together, this body reviews and votes on proposals that are forwarded to the College administration as policy recommendations. Simply put, SGA gives you a real opportunity to influence student life at Wheaton.

If you are someone who wants to help shape the community you will be part of over the next four years, we encourage you to run for a seat in the Senate.

All information submitted through this form will be kept confidential. Completion of this form is required in order to appear on the ballot. If you have any questions, please contact us at student.government@my.wheaton.edu — we would be glad to connect with you.

Please submit this form by March 3rd.

    Sincerely,
    Student Body Vice President

In applying for this student leadership position with the Student Government Association, I agree without reservation to abide by the expectations of this organization, as communicated in the job description, internal operations manual/handbook, and the student programming guide, and to reaffirm my commitment to Wheaton College and our Community Covenant. I understand that SGA is part of Wheaton College and seeks to serve Christ and advance His Kingdom. As a student leader, I will prioritize my academic responsibilities over leadership activities.  I believe that we are a community bound together as brothers and sisters in Christ. Therefore, I commit to my SGA colleagues by seeking to love each one and to be a Christ-like example to them and to the students SGA serves.

I understand that I will not be permitted to serve if I am on academic probation, disciplinary probation, or if my cumulative GPA falls below 2.5. I understand that I may not be able to serve if I am on chapel probation. Students on chapel probation will require permission from a Student Development Dean to serve.  I agree to voluntarily resign from my position if I am, or later become, subject to academic, disciplinary, or chapel probation.

I also acknowledge that a student must also be cleared to serve as a student leader by various departments on campus, including: the Chaplain’s Office, Residence Life/Student Conduct, Registrar’s Office, Equity & Title IX, Student Care Services, and Student Wellness.  I agree to cooperate with any process initiated by these offices arising from information obtained through this clearance process.

By signing and dating below, I affirm that I meet the above requirements and authorize the free exchange of information between representatives from all listed offices, in relation to SGA, for verification purposes.

I understand signing this authorization is voluntary, and that refusing to sign this form does not stop disclosure of information that is otherwise permitted by Federal law (FERPA) with or without my specific authorization, consent, or permission.

This authorization will remain active for 12 months from the date of signing. I understand that I may revoke this authorization at any time by contacting student.engagement@wheaton.edu. I also understand that if I revoke this authorization, I may adversely affect my eligibility to be selected or to continue serving as a student leader at Wheaton College.
