Motorbikes rev, luminous headlights casting your surroundings in a white glow. Billy Idol growls through your radio, pumping pure adrenaline into your veins. Here, the city and its inhabitants never sleep. In the distance a sign reads ‘Welcome to Santa Carla’. Murder capital of the world to some, but to you? It’s home.
For as long as you can remember vampires have terrorized the city of Santa Carla, California. Humans have tried to stand up to this undead threat, forming tightknit groups and calling themselves ‘vampire hunters’. To the regular person, the idea of vampires existing is a joke. Nonsensical. These hunters have done all they can to keep the general populace ignorant to the existence of the living dead. Within a few years the body count continued to grow, missing persons posters plastered over every lightpost and bulletin board. Soon enough, your city became known as the ‘Murder Capital of the World’. Whether this fact brings you joy or disgust, depends entirely on if you feast on the blood of the living or not.
It all came to a head last year, when a tentative truce was struck between the vampires and the hunters. Having a deadly raid on the vampire den result in the death of a beloved hunter certainly wasn’t what anyone expected. So, you came to an agreement. Vampires won’t feed on Santa Carla locals, and hunters won’t try and stake every vamp they see. Tonight marks the one year anniversary of that decision, and tensions are high. The vamps and hunters have decided to meet one more time, and you’ll have to decide whether the truce has been worth it or not. In order to protect your group, how far are you willing to go?
What is Cry Little Sister?
Cry Little Sister is a Lost Boys inspired LARP featuring a cast of 34 characters. Despite its vampire premise, it shares absolutely nothing with Vampire: The Masquerade. Players expecting a LARP akin to VTM will be disappointed, this game is incredibly rules and mechanics lite!
Characters are pre-written and will be assigned via a casting form. A workshop will occur before game to go over safety mechanics, player relationship negotiations, and an opportunity to get to know your fellow faction members. Knowledge of the movie ‘The Lost Boys’ encouraged but not required, as all pertinent information and lore will be provided in the setting document. Costuming encouraged, this is a larp where you can throw together your wildest 80s fit!
The tone of the game is serious yet campy at times. Characters represent a wide variety of playstyles, from Intimidating Powerhouses to Comedic Relief. Players will play either a vampire, hunter, or regular human each with their own connections and desires within their community. Throughout the game players must come to an agreement within their faction, influencing each other’s choices through in-game relationships and goals.
This LARP was written by a queer trans author for queer and trans larpers! There are homoerotic vibes, queer relationships, characters so ancient that gender means nothing to them, etc! While LARPers of all backgrounds are welcome, if you're uncomfortable being around an inherently queer environment, this game is not for you!
