  • The Denver Art Museum (DAM) invites applications for its 2027 Native Arts Artist-in-Residence program. Founded in 2012, this residency program serves as an incubator for creative expression, providing artists with an opportunity to push their artistic practice, study and take inspiration from the museum’s collections, and engage and collaborate with museum visitors.

Two Residents will be selected to live and work in Denver for three consecutive weeks in 2027. The DAM will provide the resident artists with the following:

    • $5,000 Artist Honoraria
    • $5,000 Materials Stipend
    • Round-trip economy class travel to and from Denver Art Museum
    • Housing in Denver during the three-week residency*
    • Dedicated studio in the Indigenous Arts of North America galleries, accessible during museum operating hours**
    • Scheduled access to the museum's collection
    • Opportunity to reside for one week (during your three week residency) in the Guest Cabin at Phantom Canyon Preserve, a non-public site managed by The Nature Conservatory (available May-October).

*The residency strives to be family-inclusive and will do our best to find appropriate housing if the resident artist plans to bring family members. DAM will accommodate accessibility needs of all residents.

** The residency studio is approx 400 sq feet. It contains water/sink, cabinets for storage, projector, and display walls. There is a small budget to outfit the studio with additional needs per artist.
