ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: (EMPLOYEE OR RELATIVE OF ANY EMPLOYEE)
The Southeastern Michigan Chapter NECA Education & Research Foundation Scholarship is sponsored by the Southeastern Michigan Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association.
Scholarship applicants must be currently enrolled or planning to enroll in undergraduate, graduate, or vocational studies at the college level in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Contracting or related fields. Both full-time and part-time students are eligible to apply.
Applicants must demonstrate academic proficiency by having a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Applicants must include a copy of their most recent transcript (High School or College).
Eligible applicants include employees of contractor members of the Southeastern Michigan Chapter, NECA, employees of the Chapter, and their respective relatives.
APPLICATION REVIEW:
In reviewing scholarship applications, the Scholarship Committee considers the following criteria: scholastic record, honors, and awards, demonstrated leadership ability, extra-curricular and outside activities, student commitment to Electrical Engineering and/or Electrical Contracting, experience in the field of electrical contracting, and the neatness and clarity of the application. Applicants may be required to respond to questions offered by the Scholarship Committee during an oral review.
Scholarships will only be awarded after confirmation of the student’s enrollment in the educational institution. Payments will be made directly to the school. Scholarships will be granted based upon a combination of financial need and merit. The size of the scholarship will be based upon funds that are available to the Foundation, the number of qualified scholarship applicants, and the cost at the educational institution. Scholarships may be granted up to $25,000.00 lifetime total per applicant. Scholarships will cover tuition and fees only.
The Southeastern Michigan Chapter Scholarship is biannual on a competitive basis. Continuing students must reapply for each semester (Fall and Winter).

Applicants are required to submit two recommendations on the forms provided with this application. Recommendations should be sent directly to jthiel@smcneca.org by the person making the recommendation.
