Objective:
It is the goal of the Genoa Area Chamber to promote two outstanding students of high moral standards and community commitment to reign over the Genoa Days Celebration, to serve as a role model for area youth and to enhance the image of Genoa to surrounding the communities. The candidates will be chosen based on the criteria below. This contest enables the candidates to compete for prize money, the Chamber provides to be used for continuing education.
Available to:
The scholarship is open to all graduating Genoa-Kingston seniors as well as home schooled and parochial school students who are residents of Genoa and Kingston and who would otherwise fall in the CUSD Unit #424 District boundaries. It is available to students’ continuing education at a community college, 4-year university, technical college or trade school.
Candidate Determination:
To be considered, candidates need to complete this application and submit it on or before Tuesday, April 7th. All completed applications will have personal identifying information removed and will be sent for review by a committee where they will score all applications. The top scores will become the Finalists for the Genoa Days King & Queen Competition.
Participation and Prizes:
Finalists will be announced on GK News and on the Genoa Area Chamber of Commerce social media pages. We will complete a group photo at GKHS on Friday, April 24, 2026 at 2:30pm and provide all needed information. You also will need to supply a high resolution digital photograph for our keepsake program.
On Wednesday, May 27, 2026, the first evening of Genoa Days finalists will wear formal clothing and have a private interview with of a panel of judges. These judges are selected from a variety of areas including, but not limited to former Genoa Days royalty, Genoa Ambassador Committee, Genoa Police Department, Chamber Members, etc. Several judges may be from other communities, so as to provide a non-biased atmosphere.
After the private interview, finalists will have professional headshots done and move to the Main Stage of Genoa Days where a public interview will take place. At that time, the King & Queen will be announced and each will be awarded a minimum of $1200.
The finalists will be judged on their application answers as well as communication skills and quality of answers to questions during the private & public interviews. The winner will be determined by the highest grand total of points from all three.
The King & Queen are encouraged to attend the Genoa Days Festivities, wearing their crowns, and will be required to ride in the Genoa Days parade on Saturday, May 30, 2026 to recieve their scholarship.

The Genoa Area Chamber of Commerce requests that all scholarship recipients apply awards to continuing education. Please fill this application in full. Your spelling and grammar will be included in the overall selection process. Transcripts are not required for this scholarship and we request that you do not attach them.
