2026 Latino Medical Student Association National Conference
  • LMSA National Conference
    Date: September 17-20, 2026
    Location: Houston, TX

Theme: Cultura Cura: Healing Through Heritage

Now in its 21st year, the annual Latino Medical Student Association National Conference convenes high school students, pre-medical undergraduates, medical students, residents, physicians, faculty, and LMSA alumni from across the country. Together, we gather to strengthen the LHS+ healthcare workforce and advance community-centered care through mentorship, clinical excellence, leadership development, and advocacy.

Cultura Cura: Healing Through Heritage celebrates the power of our shared cultural roots as a source of strength, healing, and inspiration in medicine. Our traditions, languages, and lived experiences are not just part of who we are, they shape how we care for others. This conference honors the generations who carried our communities forward and empowers the next wave of LHS+ leaders to bridge culture and clinical excellence. As we reflect on our past and chart the future of healthcare, we recognize that culture itself can be medicine—reminding us that representation, compassion, and community-centered care are vital to healing.

    Our goals are to:
Empower Through Heritage: Center culture, language, and lived experience as sources of healing and clinical excellence, strengthening professional identity, culturally grounded care, and confident leadership.

Expand Mentorship Networks & Career Development: Build sustained mentorship and guidance across career stages (pre-health through physicians), supporting professional growth, specialty exploration, and leadership readiness.

Champion Health Equity, Advocacy & Systems Change: Equip attendees to analyze drivers of inequity (e.g., language access, immigration status, socioeconomic barriers, representation) and take practical action to improve care within institutions and communities.

If you resonate with our theme and have a message that you think will impact the career paths of our members, we invite you to apply to host a session or workshop.

Applications are due July 19th, 2026 at 11:59 PM CST. Applicants will be notified of the status of their submission in Late June 2026.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our conference team at conference@lmsa.net.
