  • The Student Government Association Professional Development Grant will provide any active Registered Student Organization up to $1000 to attend a conference, networking opportunity, or any other professional development opportunity.  SGA will award the RSO’s whose proposal puts to practice the information they have learned and have the opportunity to network with other students and professionals related to their organization as decided by the SGA Senate.  The goal of the Grant is to encourage professional development opportunities for registered Student Organizations throughout the academic year.

    Student representative(s) are required to present the grant to the senate for approval at the upcoming senate meeting. SGA will reach out with more information regarding date and Time.

    Grant Criteria:

    1. Grant must enrich the experience of the Registered Student Organizations

    2. Grant money must be used for full-time Southwestern College Students within the active Registered Student Organizations and their respective advisor(s)

    3. Full budget proposal including items and intended cost for each purchase. Example Budget.

    A separate Approval Request must be signed and submitted by each of the following:

    • Sarah Hallinan, Dean of Students
    • Registered Student Organization Advisor

    Grant money must be used by July 1 if the RSO’s apply for the grant in the Spring Semester and January 10 of the following year if RSO’s apply for the grant in the Fall Semester.

    Funds will be added to the advisors PCARD unless otherwise requested. Example: if a check is needed to pay for conference fees, a funding usage request must be submitted with an invoice attached. If the grant is approved, a funding usage request will be required for the funds to be uploaded to the advisors PCARD. All receipts must be submitted to the SGA VP of Finance via sga@sckans.edu 10 days after the event has concluded. Failure to submit all receipts may result in probation for the respective RSO.

    Grant Timeline

    Grant Application must be submitted no later than 5:00pm on the Wednesday before the next senate meeting.
