Community Cat Assistance Program
At FieldHaven Feline Center, we’ve earned a reputation as the place to turn for anything cat-related! Our Community Cat Assistance Team (CAT) is made up of caring staff and knowledgeable volunteers who are here to help with all kinds of cat questions — from behavior issues and rehoming personal cats to caring for community and feral cats.
We love helping people learn how to support cats in their homes and neighborhoods. Our team teaches and guides community members through Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), providing hands-on training, step-by-step coaching, and even the equipment needed to get started.
Our goal is to make sure every person who contacts us gets the information, tools, and support they need to find the best solution for their situation. When someone needs to surrender a cat, we first look for alternatives to help them keep or rehome their pet. If that’s not possible, we’ll place them on our intake waiting list or connect them with another shelter that can help.
Found Cat In A Tree
Feel free to check out this helpful resource.
Found Sick or Injured CatTake to a local vet or animal shelter for immediate medical care. Check if there is an emergency vet in the area that will take a Good Samaritan surrender.
Found Healthy Cat or Kitten
Put it back where you found it. It most likely has an owner and was just enjoying a walk around the neighborhood! Contact your local shelter to find out how to file a found cat report.
If healthy, please shelter-in-place with this pet while doing the following to locate the owner
We often receive a high volume of requests. We triage each one to best help those who need it the most first, so it may take 5-7 business days for us to respond.
Please make every effort to find your new pet a home on your own using the resources on our website. Have a plan in place for your pets if this is a last-minute request. Rehoming often takes weeks, and if you only have a matter of days, make a plan for your pet. Please do not abandon them; this is a crime.
FieldHaven does not often intake owner surrenders but if an intake is your only option, please be sure to note that in the comments. Resources will vry by location. Reminder: Your cat must be spayed or neutered and preferably up to date on vaccines and microchipped.
We stress that we are here to assist you in rehoming your cat so it's important for you to promote your cat on adoption sites, social media, and other avenues. We can provide you with lots of resources, support, and tools.
Your listing will remain active for at least 30 days on FieldHaven's website; social posts stay up indefinitely.
If you'd like to see the dates of our upcoming vaccine/microchip clinics, please visit our website HERE for that information.
