The Coach Mark L. Fischer Legacy Scholarship honors the life and legacy of legendary football coach Mark L. Fischer. Coach Fischer served as the head coach at Louisa County High School from 2003 to 2010, and again from 2014 to 2017. Coach Fischer also served as the head coach at St. James High School (SC) from 2011 to 2014.
During his coaching career, Coach Fischer won more than 100 games, completed three undefeated regular seasons, and won five Jefferson District championships. He was also named Jefferson District Coach of the Year six times by his peers. In both 2006 and 2017, Fischer led the Louisa Lions to the VHSL State Championship game.
Off the field, Coach Fischer was known for passion for life, his love for the Louisa community, and his desire to positively impact the lives of those around him. Coach Fischer transcended each challenge that he met -- both on and off the field -- through his unwavering determination to run through it, and by asking “Why not me?”
Coach Fischer will forever be known for having the will of a warrior and the heart of a Lion.
