2026 Peter Westblade Scholarship Application Form
Who can apply
Any individual, aged between 18 and 30 years on January 1st 2026, who is currently (or aspiring to be) working in the Australian Sheep Industry. Applicants must be a resident of Australia. Applicants must read, understand and agree to the terms & conditions associated with applying for the Peter Westblade Scholarship.
What do I need to consider when applying
The Peter Westblade Scholarship (PWS) aims to identifying, train and develop the next generation of leaders amongst young men and women in the Australian Sheep Industry. The PWS is looking for young people who meet the following criteria;· Aged 18 to 30 years. Have a passion for the sheep industry. Is someone who is self-motivated. Is someone who wants to make a difference (no matter how small). Is someone who sees a future in the sheep and wool industry.
What is the application process
This application form is an important first step of the Scholarship. There are 6 questions in total designed to give the interview panel an appreciation of who you are and what you aspire to do. It is important that you demonstrate initiative and commitment to a career in the sheep industry. ALL sections of this form must be completed for this application to be considered. All information on this form will remain confidential, distributed only to the current PWS Committee. Applications close 9:00pm AEST, Friday 20th March 2026 Applications will then be assessed by the PWS Committee, who will create a shortlist of Scholarship finalists for 2026. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to participate in a Zoom interview in late April 2026. The interview will be conducted by 4 members of the PWS Committee. Finalists will be notified directly, and the recipient(s) of the 2026 Peter Westblade Scholarship will be announced at our Annual Peter Westblade Scholarship Ball on 23rd May 2026 at the Rules Club, Wagga Wagga, tickets now on sale. I accept that if successful, I will be required to feature in marketing and promotional material
If successful, I consent to having my name and photograph published in print and social media

I accept that the committees’ decision is final, and no negotiation will be entered in to
I accept the Scholarship is valued up to $10,000 comprising of both a value placed on in-kind contributions from leaders in the industry (such as time spent with mentors) and dollar value of expenses such as travel, education, and accommodation.
I accept the Scholarship is non-transferable either to another person or to a cash equivalent
I understand the Scholarship does not cover capital items
I accept the Scholarship is valid for 12 months – unless otherwise specified
If successful, I understand a Scholarship plan will be developed within 3 months of announcing the 2026 recipient
If successful, I agree that any activities proposed to be undertaken as part of the Scholarship are to be submitted to the Scholarship committee (via the Executive Officer) for approval of use of funds. Failure to do so may result in any associated costs not being reimbursed.
If successful, I agree that I will send the PWS Committee a report of all PWS related activities within 2 weeks of completing the activity, and acknowledge this report may be used in PWS promotional materials.
