Camp Discovery Mentor Application Form
Thank you for your prayerfully consideration to serve with Camp Discovery 2025. Camp this summer will be June 7 - 12, 2026. Each summer since 2003, First United Methodist Church of Salisbury has offered a week-long camp to rising 4th and 5th graders in the Rowan-Salisbury School System. The camp takes places at Mt. Shepherd Retreat Center (MSRC) near Asheboro, NC. It is a week where children are partnered with a mentor who will spend the week focused on your child and encouraging them to believe in themselves, to try new things, and participate in group activities. Mentors need to have turned 16 by June 7, 2026. We are excited to celebrate our 23rd summer of Camp Discovery. Thank you for your interest.
APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN TILL FILLED
Please fill out each section thoroughly. Our selection committee reviews each application and passes the recommendations to us for review. Selected mentors and volunteers will be contacted by after their applications are reviewed. You may also be contacted for a interview. If you are under 18, you will be emailed our parent/guardian waiver to be completed by your parents. You will need to send the waiver back to complete your application.

If you are 18 and older, you will be sent our background check form. You will need to fill out the form and send it back to complete your application.
REQUIRED TRAINING
We will have part one of training on Sunday, May 3 in the afternoon with part two on June 7. If you are still at college or have prior commitments, let us know during application so we can tell you next steps.
CAMP WEEK
If selected as a mentor, you will be required to be at the Church by 12:00 p.m. on June 7, 2026. You will return on June 12 by 12:30 p.m.
